Kinship Care Aware MP
Yesterday I attended the Kinship Care event in Parliament to continue my commitment to fight for the rights of kinship carers and the children they care for.
Since being elected I've become involved with and championed the rights of carers and care experienced people in Doncaster, including the Kinship Carer's group, Become, Doncaster Housing for Young People and the Council's Inspiring Futures Service - making sure their experiences are heard in Parliament.
That’s why I'm committing to becoming a Care Aware MP. That means:
- Meeting care-experienced young people in Doncaster Central regularly
- Visiting local children’s homes, leaving care services and carers
- Working with local employers, colleges and services to expand opportunities
- Raising these issues in Parliament as Labour reforms children’s social care
If you are care-experienced and would like to share your thoughts - or if you work with children in care or care leavers - I would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with my office to arrange a meeting or visit.
