Football Families for Justice
Yesterday I met with Minister Stephanie Peacock to discuss the plight of many ex-football players developing neurological conditions, linked to heading the ball during their playing careers. This was brought to me by my constituent John Stiles who is one of the campaign leads in this area.
The Football Families for Justice (FFJ) group are calling for more education for younger players and for more support to be provided to former players, and their families, to pay for medical costs in later life. Whilst professionals at a top tier earn lots of money, players from previous years and those who never make it to the top division struggle to pay for medical costs from conditions associated with playing football.
