WATCH: My question to the Home Secretary on Immigration Rule Changes

Immigration has always been important to the UK and our economy, and our country will always proudly do our bit to help those who have fled persecution and conflict.

But the system needs grip and control, not gimmicks and false promises.

That is why I was pleased to support the Government’s new White Paper yesterday, to bring meaningful reform to our immigration system, which all too often can lead to exploitation of vulnerable people.

During yesterday's statement I raised the need to ensure that going forward the Government sets out fair improvements to our asylum and appeals system and supports those most in need.
