Football Governance Bill
Today in Parliament I am pleased that Labour is bringing in the Football Governance Bill.
With this Bill, we will have an independent football regulator and new rules to protect clubs and empower fans putting them at the heart of the game. It will be pro-growth and light-touch, this will help ensure all clubs throughout the football pyramid thrive, including our own Doncaster Rovers Football Club.
Recently I met with Minister for Sport, Stephanie Peacock to discuss the bill and the campaign by my constituent John Stiles, who is part of the Football Families for Justice group, trying to ensure care and support is available for those who have developed neurodegenerative conditions linked to their footballing career. I will continue to work with John to help promote the positive changes we need in this area.
